Speed Up Website With WP-Rocket

1. Why Your Website Is Slow?

There are many reasons why your website is slow.

Use of too many plugins

When you use more plugins, your site needs more resources. So, only use the ones you need and know you can trust. Turn off any plugins you’re not using to save resources. Don’t forget to update all plugins to the most recent versions.

Use of too many large images

A lot of big images are used on modern websites. People love it. But putting too many of them on a page can make it take longer to load. Also, if a theme’s code isn’t very good, big images are used instead of small ones. It means that instead of a 150x150px image, a 1920x1080px image is loaded.

So, make sure there aren’t too many images on the page and that the images are the right size.

Not cached

Use a caching plugin now if you haven’t already. It will make your website run much better. For caching plugin, we recommend WPRocket. If you can, host your images and media files on a CDN.

Not too powerful host

If you use a shared host, remember that it only has a certain number of resources. If you have a complicated theme, these hosts may not be able to handle it well. So, check your hosting capacity and, if you can, raise it.

Using old theme and plugins version

2. WPRocket

2.1. Setup

Before setup the plugin, you need to make sure that your website don't use any other cache plugin. Then, Go to WP-ROCKET’s homepage follow the instructions and download this plugin to your website and activate it.

After active, navigate to Settings > WP Rocket to set it up

2.2. Troubleshooting

a. “Cart is Empty” Issue

Some users have experienced issues with “cart is empty” while making reservations due to WP Rocket caching the cart. To resolve this, follow these steps:

Navigate to Settings > WP Rocket > Advanced Rules in your WordPress dashboard.
In the Never Cache Cookies field, add the following cookie: woocommerce_items_in_cart
In the Never Cache URL(s) section, add the following URLs: /cart/ and /checkout/

These settings will ensure that the cart and checkout pages are excluded from caching, preventing the issue.

b. Calendar Display Issue

If the calendar displays incorrectly, please go to Settings > WP Rocket > File Optimization in your WordPress dashboard then disable Optimize CSS Delivery.

This adjustment may resolve any calendar rendering issues caused by CSS optimization.

WP-Rocket Plugin

After active, click on Settings > WP Rocket will be shown on this page. This plugin brings many techniques to help optimize web pages such as Cache, File Optimize (optimizing static data CSS, JS), Lazy load, CDN, Optimize Database.

Cache

Mobile cache: Speed up for mobile visitors.
User cache: Save cache when the client login.
SSL cache: Cached when websites run on HTTPS.
Cache lifespan: The period after which all cache files are removed.

File Optimization: Optimize static data like CSS, JS

Minify Html: Save the HTML page when cutting off the excess space.
Combine Google Fonts file: combine request file to google again to reduce query.
Minify CSS: Similar to minify Html
Minify JavaScripts: Similar minify CSS and minify Html.

Media

Lazyload: Only load images, videos or frames when the element appears on the screen. The Lazyload does not work well on the theme Traveler (should not be activated).
Emoji: Remove all emoji from wordpress homepage
Embeds: Prevent embedding content from your site.
